TRUCK INSURANCE COVERAGE TYPES
|
Truck Liability
Truck Liability covers injury and/or damage to other people and/or
their property for which you are legally liable. This coverage is required by the
State and federal DOT. The primary limits of coverage written
range from $500,000 to $5,000,000, depending upon the type of trucking operation
being insured. Interstate haulers are required to have a minimum of
$750,000, but most opt to carry $1,000,000.

Physical
Damage
Physical
Damage coverage can insure against Fire, Theft, Vandalism and collision
damage to your vehicle. This coverage is normally written on an "ACV"
or Actual Cash
Value basis. This means that in the event of a loss the Insurance Company will only pay
an amount based upon what your vehicle was worth at the time of the loss.
A deductible can apply to each covered loss may vary from $500 to $10,000.
Generally the higher the deductible, the lower the premium. Currently $1,000.00 is the most popular physical damage
deductible to carry.

Truck Cargo
Motor Truck Cargo insurance was developed as an extension to Ocean Marine
Cargo coverage to cover cargo traveling by land and covers your legal liability for the load. Motor Truck Cargo can protect against theft, damage, or spoilage of your load while hauling for
hire, and can provide coverage for cleanup and debris removal after a covered
loss.

Worker's Compensation insurance promises to pay compensation and other benefits required by
law to covered employees who are injured in the course of their work. Coverage
only applies to work related injuries occurring during the policy period.

General Liability
General Liability protects against the claims of third parties arising from the operation of your business. It excludes auto claims. An example of a General liability
claim would be back injuries claimed by a
salesman who slipped and fell in your yard (while trying to sell you a
book on how to prevent accidents on your property).
